A friend and brother in Christ showed me something yesterday. He printed off and article that was posted on Yahoo. Here is the link for those interested in reading crap. (Copy and paste) http://tiny.cc/x8d7d. Let me start by confronting the title by personal experience. I don't know about you, but my dad gave me my fair share of "whoopings". He went through a few belts and tree limbs. As I think about it now, that type of discipline is Biblical.
Proverbs 13:24 says "He who withholds his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him diligently." (NASB)
If we with hold the whoopings then we hate our children according to the Bible. Is this society trying to tell me to hate my children. How can you show true love without discipline and leading them the right direction? Those whoopings didn't seem to make me an agressive, out of control person. They seemed to have taught me respect, responsibility, and brought to the house of God. The Bible also addresses the fathers in this situation.
1 Corinthians 16:13 says "Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
Act like men and be strong it says. When is America's dads going to stand up and be men? We are not called to be little punks who have kids and then neglect our duty to train our children in a Godly way. GROW UP! If we don't follow God's commands then how in the world can we ever expect our kids to do the same? All this goes along with spanking. We are to lead by a Biblical example, then our kids will follow suit. God's commands are our commands and then they should become our childrens commands as well.
Commanded to teach my kids the commands of God by lifestyle!
